July 10, 2007---WE BEGAN A NEW YEAR OF LIONISM. NEW OFFICERS ARE IN CHARGE. ALL MEETINGS ARE AT THE WINDCREST CIVIC CENTER UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
MEMBERS: Please bring dues, $70 for a full year or $35 for one half year.
SPECIAL NOTE: THE LION OF THE YEAR AWARD WAS GIVEN TO THE ENTIRE CLUB MEMBERSHIP FOR THEIR UNITY AS A TEAM. Special recognition was given to Lion Nancy Beach for her exceptional sales of Christmas Greenery and to Lion Don Nellermoe for his overall work with the Dictionary Project, Windcrest Proud Reception Functions, and Website management.
DECEMBER 9. CHRISTMAS DINNER 6:30 p.m.; CATERED EVENT AT THE CIVIC CENTER. Cost is $10.00 per person. This is the last meeting of 2008.

We collect used eyeglasses, sunglasses, and drugstore-type eyeglasses--no cases. Hearing aids may be turned in to us as well. Contact any of the officers listed above, OR These listed objects may now be deposited in the "White" box at the city center used for your water bills.

DICTIONARY PROJECT for 3rd graders. Dictionaries (622)were given in the fall of 2008 to all 3rd graders at Walzem Elementary, Windcrest Elementary,Camelot Elementary, and Montgomery Elementary and faculty.
MEXICAN DINNER FUND RAISER. This fund raiser was a great success. Thank you all who supported this last fund raiser of the year 2007. Live Mariachi Entertainment from Jay High School and a dance group provided a superb musical dining experience in Windcrest. Our next Mexican dinner is scheduled for March 21, 2009---Please arrange your schedules to attend this annual Lions Club Fund Raiser.
FIFTH GRADE ACADEMIC CHALLENGE. A challenge was given to 5th graders in the elementary schools. They researched, calculated, used logic, and submitted a final paper to receive a reward. Lion Joe Bishop coordinated this effort. Congratulations to the Walzem and Windcrest Elementary School for their participation.
PEACE POSTER CONTEST. The Ed White Middle School winners for 2008 are: HONORABLE MENTION--Brandon Sanders, Certificate of Achievement; THIRD PLACE--Juan Godoy, Grade 8, Certificate of Achievement, 3rd place trophy and a $50.00 US Savings Bond; SECOND PLACE--Mia Mungia, Grade 6, Certificate of Achievement, 2nd place trophy and a $75.00 US Savings Bond; FIRST PLACE--Jeanna Mullen, Grade 7, Certificate of Achievement, 1st place trophy and a $100.00 US Savings Bond. Jeanna was the 2007 Peace Poster Contest winner also. Her winning poster is forwarded to the District for District level competition. Congratulations to all for an excellent job! Lion Don Myles coordinated this activity.
